General Motors
General Motors, or GM, was founded on September 16, 1908 by William B. Durant. William, before he came into the auto industry, was a leading manufacturer of horse-drawn carriages. In only a few years of its creation, GM had bought out over 20 car companies including Oldsmobile, Cadillac, and Oakland (Pontiac.) GM continued to revolutionize the car assembling process and up to present day still operates.
